I had a car battery in my garage for three years. It was good when I put into storage, but I checked and all cells are completely dry. Can I water and put it on a charger? Or is it a futile effort?

Are you sure that there are no leaks in it. The sulfuric acid not only evaporated. The garage is never cold, batteries left sitting for a long period gradually lose their charge.
