Do I Need To Prime Mdf Spray Painting Over Painted Mdf?

Spray painting over painted mdf? - do i need to prime mdf

I have a cupboard in my son's room - the MDF is already painted white. We want a darker color - green or blue. Are there any special preparation? Do we have to sand and / or the capital's New?
